Pre-Kindergarten

Welcome to the Pre-Kindergarten Class!  Your child will be learning all kinds of terrific things.  As with all classes, we try to develop age appropriate activities in three main areas: Cognitive, Social/Emotional and Physical.  There is time everyday to hear stories, sing songs, go outside and of course PLAY!

In the cognitive area we will be introducing pre-reading/writing skills through stories, letters and sounds.  We will be working on math concepts such as numbers, matching, sorting, counting, one to one correspondence, etc.  And many of our themes lend themselves well to Science and Social Studies units.

In the social/emotional area we try to develop life long skills such as empathy, getting along with others, sharing, negotiating and manners while fostering a positive self-esteem within each child.

For the physical are, we work on activities that develop both large (running, jumping, skipping, throwing and catching) and small (stringing beads, cutting with scissors, puzzles) motor skills.
